David Gene Staggs, son and only child of James and Peggy Staggs, was born in Haywood County, TN on August 6, 1959 and departed this life on June 26, 2021, bearing his sickness and affliction with patience to the end. He professed his faith in Christ and was baptized in 1991. Those that knew David knew of his love for racing that he inherited from his father James, who built and raced stock cars. David and his dad spent many fun -filled Friday and Saturday nights at local dirt tracks going in circles. Most all other nights were spent working on the car. David was an expert machinist and was in his 16th year of employment at Lasco of Brownsville, TN at the time of his passing. Prior to Lasco, David was owner and operator of Staggs Motorsports and Engine Machine Service for more than 20 years. David’s greatest legacy is of course his children and grandchildren that have each contributed their love to him, making David a very wealthy man. David, also known as G Daddy, shared his time, imagination and his love with each one as only a wonderful father and grandfather can do. He will be forever in their hearts. David was also blessed with many friends throughout his life. The family would like to recognize Billy Rye and Joey Parks as special long- time friends, as well as Austin Crawford, an honorary son, that has shared in many great times and traditions with David and family. David was preceded in death by his father, James Howard Staggs, his maternal grandparents, RC and Frankie Bailey, paternal grandparents, Fred and Verniece Staggs. David is survived by his mother, Peggy Bailey Staggs, wife Beverly Hart Staggs, 2 sons, Brandon Clark (Trisha) Peru, NY, Noah David Staggs, Brownsville, 2 daughters, Nicole Dew (Jeff), Brownsville, Bailey Taylor Staggs (Brandon), Starkville, MS, a bonus daughter Rachel Jackson (Chad), Brownsville, and a bonus son, Brandon Gaters (Presley), Brownsville, and 16 grandchildren. David has won his final race, the greatest win of all time. We know he was welcomed home with the checkered flag waving him through the gates of heaven and he is celebrating at the feet of Jesus.
