SHEFFIELD-David Ferson has recently been named director of the Helen Keller Hospital Pharmacy Department. Ferson is from New Orleans, Louisiana, and is a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University School of Pharmacy. Ferson has forty-three years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, having worked at hospitals in Louisiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Alabama.
Ferson began his career at Schwegmann Pharmacy in New Orleans, Louisiana. After that, he worked at U.S. Army Hospitals in Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania; and Aberdeen, Maryland. He served as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital from 1992 until 2011, where he was responsible for daily pharmacy operations and the automation of the pharmacy. Most recently, Ferson has been working as a staff pharmacist at Decatur Morgan Hospital, where he is responsible for the pharmacy information system and transitioning the pharmacy to Meditech.
David and his wife live in Florence. They have a daughter who is a law school student, and a son who currently attends the University of South Alabama.
