David Eugene Ayers, 70 years old, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, following a long-fought battle with cancer. He was born to James Buford Sr and Mildred Tinnin Ayers on January 4, 1954 in Madison, Tennessee. Growing up in Cross Plains, Tennessee he was a proud classmate and graduate of East Robertson High School class of 1973. Following graduation, he went straight into the workforce, a jack of all trades, even a master of some. David was a very hardworking man with expertise across several industries including trucking, welding, backhoe, excavation and tire service. In fact, he worked through his lengthy illness and was a great example of dedicated work ethic!
David was a Mason at the Crystal Fountain Masonic Lodge and a past Master at the White House Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and Shriner at the Al Menah Shrine Temple in Nashville, Tennessee. He also served for many years as “Digger” the Klown of the Sumner County Shrine Klown Club, he took such pride in supporting the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Someone once said, “All people die but not all people live”, David truly lived each day to its fullest! He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He loved to be in the company of others, rarely ever met a stranger and was always able to strike up conversation! Many knew him by “Big Mo”, “Big Dave” or “Cuz”. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, camping and trips to the beach. David was a native of Robertson County, always well- liked and respected by his community. David will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Most importantly, he was a Child of God who believed in Christ as his eternal Savior. He wanted everyone to have a relationship with the Savior! David was a member of the White House Seventh Day Adventist Church.
In addition to his parents, David is proceeded in death by brother, James “Jimmy” Ayers Jr, nephew, James “Bo” Ayers, and granddaughters, Ashley and Susan Nelson.
David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patsy Ayers. Brothers and sisters in law, Ginger Ayers Roberts of late Jimmy, Joe Ayers Sr (Judy) and Robert “Bobby“ Ayers (Danette). Daughters and son in law, Kerie (Cole) Fulton, Nancy Hupp and Kimberly Duke. Grandchildren, Bryce and Ava Fulton, Timmy and Tammy Hupp, Shawn Nelson. Ten great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews but especially beloved nephews Tony (Nichole) Ayers and Ronnie (Dawn) Ayers.
His family would like to recognize and thank the incredible and compassionate care he received during his illness including his beloved primary care provider, Brittany Jepson, PA-C and nurse Tanda, Dr. Waleed Khalaf, nurses and the entire Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center Pleasant View Team, Thomas Drugs, and nurses Wes and April with Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11am in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House with Pastor Jeremy Leggett officiating. Interment will follow in White House Memorial Gardens with Tony Ayers, Joe Ayers Jr, Jon Ayers, Ronnie Ayers, Bryan Ayers, Greg Keith, Evan Carr acting as Pallbearers. Timmy Ayers, Shawn Nelson, Cole Fulton, Bryce Fulton, Daniel Joiner, Tom Day, Donnie Day, Johnny Day, Jim Bamman, Butch Jenkins serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Thursday, June 20, 2024 3-7pm and Friday, June 21, 2024 9-11am at the funeral home. A Masonic service is scheduled for Thursday evening at 6pm in the funeral home chapel.
