Funeral Service for David Elroy Simmons, 81, of Florence, will be 2 PM, Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Greenview Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service. Bud Hale will officiate the service. Mr. Simmons was born March 6, 1942 to K. Boise and Mildred Pauline Messner Simmons. He passed from this life on January 14, 2024 at his home in Florence.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sandra K. Phillips; brother-in-law, Vernon Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Russell Simmons; 3 sons, David Shane (Robin)Simmons, Paul Simmons (Crystal Flannagan), Bobby Russell; 1 daughter, Kimberly (Joel) Strickland; 1 brother, Boise (Maedine) Simmons; grandchildren, Jessie Sherrod, Bobby Dan Russell, Troy Simmons, Dustin Simmons, Chelsey Strickland, Ashlyn Strickland; and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Simmons, Jamie Simmons, Dustin Simmons, Troy Simmons, Bobby Dan Russell and Wayne Peden. Honorary Pallbearer will be Boise Simmons.
