David E. Ivy, 65, of Red Bay, Alabama, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit, Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi and was an athletic recruiter. He was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church, Golden, Mississippi.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m., at Old Bethel United Methodist Church, Golden, Mississippi, with Brother Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery, Golden, Mississippi. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Kathy Ivy, Red Bay, Alabama; one son, Brad Ivy, Red Bay, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Sonya Ivy, Red Bay, Alabama; grandchild, Nicole Earnest; great-grandchild, Caseyn Rayburn; father and mother-in-law, J.W. and Eupal Thorne; brother-in-law, Jerry Thorne (Beverly); one nephew, Heath Thorne; one niece, Amber Hill; four great-nephews; aunts and uncles, Maynard Ivy (Pat), Harold Ivy (Carolyn), Shelby Ivy (Wilda), and Mary Ann Caveness; and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tulon and Lena Mae Ivy.
Pallbearers will be Randy Goines, Michael Fancher, Heath Thorne, Chris Brazil, Michael Jackson, and David Ward. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Thorne.
Visitation will be today, 6-9 p.m., at Old Bethel United Methodist Church, Golden, Mississippi.
