Born December 22, 1953, in New Albany, Mr. Butler was one of 10 children of the late Robert and Mary Baker Butler. He was a graduate of Myrtle High school and was a custodian for New Albany High School before his retirement.
A Christian, Mr. Butler enjoyed the simple things in life. His giving personality and ability to make friends anywhere, showed the loving man he was, especially to his grandchildren that called him “Papaw”. Mr. Butler could be seen wrestling on Saturday mornings in Memphis. His other past times included reading, traveling to the beach, and camping in the mountains. He made sure to save a souvenir from all the places he visited.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 25 years, Lisa Gilliam Butler, one son, John Butler (Katelyn), eight sisters, Joyce Parker (Ronnie), Betty Knighton (Roy), Ann Musgrove (Bob), Kathy Butler, Connie Williams (Terry), Martha Nobles, Linda Bishop (Rob), and Wanda Jarvis (Marty), one brother Bobby Butler (Rhonda), two grandchildren, Carter “CJ” and Dalton Butler, and his special canine companion, Sophie.
