It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Craig Radford on June 18, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on August 10, 1955, in Highland Park, Michigan, David was the beloved son of the late Nicholas Kirks Radford and Rosalie Lucille Herweyer.
David graduated high school in Phoenix in 1973, and shortly thereafter, at the young age of 17, felt a profound calling to serve his country. He began his distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Meridian Ms. David served bravely in both Vietnam and in Desert Storm Desert Shield, showcasing his dedication and courage. He was particularly proud of his graduation from the Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A), where he honed his leadership skills and effective communication abilities.
During his time in the military, David married the love of his life, Daphne Lisa Ewanation, in 1987. His military career spanned over two decades, culminating in his retirement as a Senior Chief in 2000. David’s service to his country was marked by his unwavering commitment and patriotism.
David’s main passion in life was music. The group that he most loved was Pink Floyd. Before his marriage to Daphne he took a short break from the military and briefly worked with different well known groups, one being the Rolling Stones in their Some Girls tour. He enjoyed reminiscing and recounting these days.
After his retirement, David pursued his passion for design, specializing in customized home theaters for the elite. His creative and meticulous work earned him a stellar reputation in the industry.
David’s life was a testament to service, love, and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Daphne Ewanation; his son, Adam (Holly) Radford; his sisters, Ruth Ann Logan, Vicky Loh, and Marsha (Michael) Packer; his brother, Tom (Sue) Radford; and his cherished grandchildren, Lydia, Dexter, Reese, and Arthur. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
David’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever be remembered by all who knew him. David never met a stranger. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He volunteered at Rolling Hills Church in both Franklin and Columbia TN, and was attending the Columbia campus at the time he passed. A dedication ceremony to his life will be held at the Columbia campus at a future date to be announced.
The care of Mr. David Craig Radford and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Williams Funeral Home.
