David Brian Turco, Sr., age 51, of Columbia, passed from this earth into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
David was born on July 17, 1963 to Salvatore Turco and Eleanor Gilbert Turco in Boston, Massachusetts. David was known for many things: being a loving son, brother, father, husband, and friend, but was mostly known for his love of the Lord. He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a huge smile and a larger than life personality. He gave the best hugs around and everyone lined up for them. If you were lucky and caught him on Sunday you got two hugs. He was a long time member of New Life Church in Columbia.
David was also known for his corny jokes, karaoke and he loved to play cards. Most importantly, he was known to engage anyone he met with his love for God. He always shared his testimony to anyone who listened, and he had a real heart for the jail ministry because he knew where they were coming from. David had to learn some hard lessons earlier in life and he loved to say he was a little slow, but he eventually caught on. One of his mottos was, “It’s not Goodbye, it’s I will see you later!!!”. Because of his faith, we know this is true.
David married his wife Kelley Moen Turco on September 9, 2006, and they shared eight and a half years of love and joy. It wasn’t long enough. He had four sons: David B. Turco, Jr., Michael W. Kelley, Gregory Kelley and Craig S. (Danielle) Kelley. In addition to his loving wife and sons, David is survived by his sisters: Janet Turco, Jeanne Turco (Adem) Dilekoglu and Linda Johnson; brother: John Turco; niece: Lauren Cheever; brother from another mother: Brett (Karen) Hertan and sister from another mister: Sandy (Ron) Tonoli. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Joe Turco and sister: Maryanne Roth.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for David will be on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at New Life Church, 6111 Cayce Lane, Columbia, TN 38401 with Bro. Darryl Martin officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. also at the church.
