David “Bootie” Curtis, 80, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Friday, December 9, 2022, at North Mississippi Medica Center – Iuka. When he was younger, David spent seven years in the National Guard. He worked with the Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669, and he absolutely loved his job. It allowed him to travel, which was one of his favorite things to do. Most of all though, he enjoyed spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. David is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pearl Curtis; his daughters, Sharon Wimbish (Jon), Karen Borden (Steve), and Kimberly Pruitt (Jamie); his grandchildren, Lauryn Harris (Logan), John Wimbish, Jason Wimbish, Lydia Wimbish, David Borden, Wyatt Borden, Elizabeth Pruitt, Cooper Pruitt, and Riley Pruitt; his sister, Martha Gist (Gene), his brother-in-law, Harold Gist; his nieces, Tracey Wimbish (Robert) and Stephanie Barnett (Tommy); his nephews, David Gist (Stacey), Bo Gist, and Mark Akers (Amy); and a host of other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Elsie Brown Curtis; his sisters, Emma Frances Akers (Bobby) and Barbara Gist; and his nieces and nephews, Terrie Booker (Carl), Buddy Akers, and Stanley Akers.
