Dave Gerard Royer, age 69, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Dave’s unwavering kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born to LJ and Gloria Royer, who preceded him in death, Dave spent his life dedicated to his family and community. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cheryl Royer, with whom he built a life rich in love and family. Dave’s children, Patrick Joseph Royer (Alexandra Barton), Thomas James Royer, Michelle Marie Royer-Massey (William), and Daniel Paul Royer, carry forward his memory with pride and gratitude for his unconditional love. His grandchildren, Tristan Matthew Royer, Haley Isabell Jewell Massey, Braden Jaxon, and Maci, were his joy and filled his heart with pride. He is also remembered by his siblings, Larry Royer (Valerie) and Charlene Makofsky (Ray); godchildren, Joshua Makofsky and Ashley DeVincent; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Dave was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Trinity Elizabeth Royer, whom he always held in his heart.
Dave enjoyed a successful career in HVAC, known by many as the man who could fix anything. Friends and family relied on his remarkable skills and dedication, which he shared selflessly. Outside of work, Dave was an avid fan of LSU football and the New Orleans Saints, proudly cheering on his favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm.
Dave’s faith was central to his life, and he was a dedicated parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where he found strength, peace, and a sense of belonging among his fellow parishioners.
Above all, Dave was a wonderful husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a true friend to many. His love, humor, and kindness will be remembered and missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May Dave’s soul rest in peace, surrounded by the love he gave so freely in life.
Visitation for Mr. Royer will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Church from 12:30 to 1:00 pm. Mass will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Father Joseph Lubrano officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
