Daryl Hinds died peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was born in Albany, Kentucky on August 21, 1944 to Doyle Hinds and Sue Nell Groce Hinds Schmaltz who preceded him in death.
Daryl was a 1962 graduate of McMinnville Central High School and attended Motlow State Community College. He served six years in the U.S. Army with both the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles) and the 82nd Airborne Division with tours in Vietnam with each. He was extremely proud of his service to his country and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and two Bronze stars. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a land manager with Burroughs-Ross-Colville in McMinnville Tennessee for many years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and time at his paternal grandmother’s (Mema) farm in Monroe, Tennessee.
Survivors include his loving wife Jeanne, son Jason Hinds, grandson Oakley Hinds, and former wife and longtime friend Susan Maxwell. Other survivors include his brother Ron (Sara), sister Cathy Walker (Steve), half-sisters and half- brother Heather Duncan (John), Holly Johnson, and Heath Hinds (Leslie) and step-mother Greta Hinds Dajani (Sam). He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
