Daphne Elaine Smith Shockley, age 54, passed away Wednesday June8, 2022 , from an extended illness, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Daphne was born on July 12, 1967 to Dewey Smith and Diane Forsythe Allen. A Van Buren County native and a Piney Community resident, Daphne was an outstanding basketball and softball player at Van Buren County High School where she graduated with the class of 1985. She was awarded a basketball scholarship to Lane College in Jackson, TN after her graduation from high school. Daphne was a long-time call taker/dispatcher with the Van Buren County 911 Center, worked at Oster and was last employed by the City of Spencer prior to her illness.

Daphne is survived by her loving family, husband; Davy Shockley of Piney, sons; Travis Bates of Baker Mountain and Brayden Shockley of Piney, daughter; Bailey Shockley of Piney, mother; Diane Allen of Spencer, father; Dewey (Donna) Smith of McMinnville, sister; Angie Smith of Spencer, grandchildren; Bentley, Breelee and Micah Bates, in-laws; David and Charlotte Shockley, special friends; GiGi Lewis and Carla Solomon. Several nieces, nephews and a large extended family also survives.
Visitation times are Friday June 10th 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday June 11th 10:00am to 3:00pm.
There will be no public funeral service. A private burial will occur later with family only.
