Danny Ray Ridgeway, 64, of Rogersville died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 15, 2024, 12-1 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1 PM in the chapel with Bro. Jerry Marlow officiating. Burial will be at Anderson City Cemetery with Navy Military Honors.
Mr. Ridgeway served in the United States Navy as a Gas Turbine Mechanical Maintenance Technician. During his service, he was a plank owner and served at sea for the USS Thorn DD-988. During his naval training, Mr. Ridgeway was designated as an Honor Man due to demonstrating loyalty, attention to duty, dependability, aptitude for naval life, and showing the characteristics of a real man-of-warsman. He provided honorable and faithful service to the United States Navy and the United States of America.
Mr. Ridgeway was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Curtis Ridgeway; son, J.D. Ridgeway; daughter in law, Carrie Ridgeway; sister, Belinda Brigner; mother, Margie Ridgeway; father, Bennie Jo “BJ” Ridgeway.
He is survived by his daughter, Nona Butler (Chris); grandchildren, Ivy Jeffreys (Braydyn), Sky Cullum (Blake), Lilly Butler, Gina Brown, Jesse Butler, and Caralyse Ridgeway; great-grandchildren, Jake Brown, JJ Brown, Josh Wood, Denver Jeffreys, Baylor Wood, Carter Jeffreys, and Asher Cullum; sisters, Jennifer Johnson and Rita Long (Roger).
Pallbearers will be Josh Hice, Brian Grose, Wendall Fulks, Jamie Allen, Jason Brigner, Timmy Brigner, Josh Butler, and Jesse Butler.
