Danny Odell Nixon was born on February 10, 1953, in Selmer, Tennessee, to the late Odell and Essie Mae Kirk Nixon. Danny went to school at Rose Creek, graduated from McNairy Central and attended Jackson State Community College before being united in marriage on August 17, 1973, to Janice Lawson Nixon, who preceded him in death on May 14, 2020.
Danny retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority to care for Janice during her battle with cancer. He was also a retired farmer, spending decades with his family in the fields raising cattle, corn, and pumpkins, as well as selling Christmas trees.
Danny was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring “Pops, in addition to being an avid Tennessee Vols fan. He was a member of the church of Christ.
Danny passed from this life on September 7, at the age of 70, at his home in Ramer, Tennessee.
In addition to his wife and parents, Danny was preceded in death by his two brothers, Rayburn Nixon, and Joe Nixon, and his two sisters, Bernice Bodiford and Betty Ann Young. He is survived by his daughter Lorie Clayton and son-in-law John, his daughter Melinda (Mindy) Rogers and son-in-law Luke, and grandchildren Joey and Caelan Clayton and Addison and Briley Rogers.
