Danny Eugene Cope, 66, passed away on August 3, 2023, at his home in Athens, Alabama. Danny was born on May 29, 1957, in La Rochelle, France, the son of Eugene and Andree Cope of Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Butler High School and was a United States Army Veteran and was honorably discharged after several years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna Cope; his children, Shelley Cope Stisher (Donovan) and Jimmy Campbell; and his grandchildren, Daisy, Austin, Miriam, Dylan, Crosby, and Keller. Danny was preceded in death by his father, SGM Eugene Cope, in 2022, and sister, Josiane Cope Davis, in 2021.
He loved his family, the Country he served, and he was a big Alabama football fan. He also enjoyed cooking his mom’s French dishes, and sharing a glass of wine with her whenever he could.
Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2023, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Danny’s memory to Still Serving Veterans.
