Daniel Wilson Tomerlin age 78 of Athens died Monday at his residence.
Mr. Tomerlin was born March 10, 1944 in Evansville, Indiana. He was the Co-Owner of the Gulf Station at Highway 31 and Pryor Street. He was retired from Steelcase as a safety and environmental engineer, he was of the church of Christ faith. Dan had a avid love for metal detecting, Indian artifacts and Civil War relics. Later in life he loved to pan for gold and went to Alaska to do so. He loved spending time with his Great Grandchildren, especially one he referred to as “The Boy”, which real name is Hampton.
Graveside service will be 3 pm Wednesday at Leggtown Cemetery with Pat Lawrence and Todd Tomerlin officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1pm until 2:30 pm at Spry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Baylor Greenhaw, Gavin Greenhaw, Lincoln McBay, Harold Woodfin, Todd Tomerlin and Gage Tomerlin.
Mr. Tomerlin is survived by his wife, Candace Tomerlin of Athens. Son, Todd (Tammy) Tomerlin of Athens. Daughters, Leigh Anne (Karl) Carter of Athens. Taylor McBay of Scottsboro, Alabama. Grandchildren, Kennady Appleton, Gavin Greenhaw, Baylor Greenhaw, Gage Tomerlin and Lincoln McBay. Great Grandchildren , Hampton McBay and Talmadge Appleton.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Grady and Annie Tomerlin. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Museum in Athens.
