Daniel Wayne Burks
A Memorial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday March 26, 2025, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, in West Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Ronnie Burks.
Survivors include his sister, Donna (Curtis) Woodard; nephew, Brian Daniel (Sherriden) Woodard; great niece, Mackenzie Woodard; great nephew, Jordan Woodard and longtime companion, Sue Terrell and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Danny was a 40-year veteran of the trucking industry with over 4,000,000 miles behind him, fulfilling his childhood dream. In the 80s he co-owned a trucking company with his father Alton.
Danny earned his associates degree in transportation and proudly claimed he was a “Highway Engineer”.
He loved God, family, Alabama football, cruising and exploring the country while driving his rig. He received many service awards throughout his professional driving career.
Danny enjoyed eating Saturday breakfast with his buddies and playing poker with his friends. Anyone who knew or met Danny instantly felt the contagious laughter and smiles he evoked. He always said kids and dogs loved him.
He loved classic cars, riding his motorcycle and enjoyed his boat on the lake. He was a lifetime member of Gethsemane Baptist Church from his home state of Michigan and enjoyed going to the church reunions every Year.
Danny had a great sense of humor and loved pulling jokes on his family and friends. Everybody had a good time when Danny was around, he was known affectionately by all his fellow truckers as “Beach Bum”.
He is now truly home. He is with his mom, his dad, and he finally gets to meet his brother Ronnie. What a reunion in Heaven. Danny will be dearly missed by all that knew him and loved him.
