Daniel John Hofer Jr. was born in Nashville TN to Virginia Perry Hofer and Daniel J. Hofer Sr. After his graduation from Cohn High School, Dan enlisted in the United States Air Force. His electronics training in the Air Force and his work on aircraft radar systems in Vietnam led to his 33-year career with Texas Instruments and Raytheon where he was a field service technical representative. As a field rep, Dan developed a lifelong love of travel and was privileged to work in foreign countries as well as a one-year assignment on the USS America Aircraft Carrier. Dan had a passion for problem solving, be it Sudoku or taking perfectly-functioning electronic or mechanical devices apart to learn how they worked. His blue 1969 MG-B, his first major purchase after leaving the Air Force, was his favorite mechanical device throughout his life. He loved his family and was always available for help whenever he was needed.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Walters Hofer; children: Amanda Hofer of Ohio
and Tim Hofer of Nevada; siblings: David (Sharron) Hofer, Clara Williams, and Michael (Maryanne)
Hofer of Greenville SC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents
Virginia and Daniel J. Hofer and sister Pamela Varden.
