Daniel Frank Strobl died peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Frank lived to serve others. He was best described by his granddaughter Catherine when she was thirteen:
“Frank Strobl is the best grandfather in the world to me! He is honest to everyone. He is the best cook ever. He could open his own restaurant and it would be the best restaurant ever! For us to get to know each other better, we cook and talk, and he teaches me everything about cooking. He helps me in school. He is very smart. He is also generous with his time trying to help me as much as he can. One thing I like about him is that he is funny and always makes me laugh! He tries hard at everything he does and I respect that! He is a good listener and never misses a word. He is very understanding and is always smiling. Every time I am sick he comes to my house and makes me feel better. I want to thank him for everything he has given me and I love him for that!” Frank kept this framed on his mantle.
Daniel Frank Strobl was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 20, 1928. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University in Chicago he began his career at Link Belt which later became FNC. Frank and his family moved to Tupelo when FNC opened its plant there where he completed forty-two years of service from 1952 to 1994 as a respected and dependable engineer.
Frank is survived by Rose, his wife of sixty-two years, his son Glen Strobl and his wife Marsha of Savannah, Georgie, his daughter Merrissa Bryan and her husband Christopher and their child Tryston of Erie Pennsylvania, his daughter Cynthia Freeland and her Husband Hale of Oxford , Mississippi and their children Catherine of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Jason who is in the Air Force.
