On Monday, March 18, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Daniel Casey Deaton, husband, father, and lover of Jesus passed away at the age of 47. He was born August 28, 1976 to Harold Wayne Deaton and Linda Simmons Deaton in Okinawa, Japan. He was welcomed by two older sisters, Johnna and Cara. After graduating from Pontotoc High School in 1994 Casey went on a tour of colleges and universities including Northeast MS Community College where he studied English and was a member of Campus Country; University of MS where he studied history and philosophy; Blue Mountain College where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and History; and finally Liberty University where he received a Master of Arts in Theological Studies. On October 24, 1998, Casey married the love of his life, Heather Weeden Deaton. Over the next few years Casey and Heather grew their family by welcoming Josie, Gideon, and Lydia. Casey will always be remembered as the husband and father who loved without condition. Casey is held lovingly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His passion for Christ was tangible. Casey’s laugh and sense of humor were infectious and drew even the most skeptical toward him. He had a unique gift of combining his love of all things Jesus with his crazy brand of humor. He had the ability to make even the most mundane task a one-man comedy routine. The mark Casey left on the hearts of others is seen and felt by those who knew him as a camp counselor at Camp Lake Stephens in Oxford, MS; Youth Minister and Worship Leader at By Faith Baptist Church in Pontotoc, MS; Minister of Youth at Meadowood Baptist Church in Amory, MS; Mentor at Global Youth Ministry in Bristol, England; Associate Pastor of Students and Mission at First Baptist church in Amory, MS; and Director of Childhood Ministries/Music Associate/Worship Leader at Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS. Casey’s love of music could be heard at a very early age as he kept his sisters awake banging on his drums. Throughout his life Casey shared the message of the Gospel through his music. He shares this love of music with his entire extended family. Casey was often joined by his three children during worship services to share the love of Christ through music. Mr. Casey, as he was affectionately called by the youth and children whom he served, was a warrior for Jesus in every aspect of his life.
