Dana Meyer Chambers of Cullman passed away at her home on May 18, 2013 at 10:45 a.m.
Dana was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated Huntsville High School and The University of Alabama, and spent most of her adult life in Cullman, Alabama. She recently retired after a 25-year tenure in the field of education as librarian at East Elementary School in Cullman. One of her greatest pleasures was the special interaction she shared with her students.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Cullman Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. Following visitation, a Graveside service will be held at the Holly Pond Cemetery, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Brother Steve Rodgers will officiate. Interment will be in Holly Pond Cemetery.
Cullman Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Dana was preceded in death by her biological parents, Isola Hooten and Danielle Taglier; her adopted mother, Lorene Hooten Meyer; and maternal grandparents, Henrietta Shaw and Marvin Hooten.
Survivors include her adopted father, Robert Meyer; two sons, Robert (Shellie) Chambers and Dan Nolan Chambers; two sisters, Dee Ann Hairston Creel and Ellen Meyer Hampsten; one brother, Randy Hairston; an uncle, Leldon M. Hooten; an aunt, Betty Leeth Haynes; and two grandchildren, Clayton Chambers and Harper Chambers.
Dana was a joy of love and light to her family and will be missed beyond words.
