Funeral Services for Mrs. Dana Hodge Pettus, age 42 of Delta, will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Delta Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Tim Calloway, Rev. Bennie Morrison, and Rev. Michael Howell officiating. Burial will follow at the Lineville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Pettus passed peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. She is a native of Clay County, born in Ashland, and graduated from Mellow Valley High School, Class of 1997, where she was an all-county cheerleader and also played softball. After High School, Dana started her family with her husband Joel. Dana was a strong and determined individual, and she knew that her passion was helping and serving others. After she started her family, she attended South Union and graduated with her nursing degree. She worked as a Hospice Nurse for Compassus Hospice for 12 years, and for 9 of those years she served as the Director of Clinical Services. Her number one priority has always been her family, and her patients and staff were a close second. Dana was a natural caregiver which was apparent in her home and work life. Outside of work, she loved to decorate her home, especially during Christmas time and she was a member at Delta Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pettus is survived by her children: Courtney Pettus (Fiancé Brooks Wortham) and Colton Wayne Pettus; her father, Tony Hodge, all of delta; two sisters: Kathy Freeman (Brian) of Mellow Valley and Kelly Murray (Derek) of Birmingham; her father and mother in law: Bobby and Debbie Pettus of Lineville; one sister in-law, Julie Hu (Peter) of Prattville; one brother in-law, John Pettus (Beth) of Lineville; her grandparents in-law: Durward and Mavis Rice; her boyfriend, Stephen Griffin; his Daughter and Son in law: Dayla Black (Brighton) of Palm Springs, CA; his parents: Bob and Bonnie Kunickis, all of Mellow Valley; his brother, Bryan Griffin (Morgan) of Moody; his two sisters: Janet Ford (Michael) and Pam McCullers (Johnny), both of Lineville; and a host of nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joel William Pettus; her mother, Lorene Tinnin Hodge; one brother, Anthony “Buddy” Hodge; her paternal grandparents: Marshall and Mary Juanita Hodge; and her Maternal Grandparents: C.V. and Doris Tinnin.

The Active Pallbearers will be John Pettus, Bryan Griffin, Austin Freeman, Dustin Freeman, John Marshall Freeman, Dylon Murray, Brenden Murray, Brooks Wortham, and Derek Murray.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her staff at Compassus Hospice.

Her visitation will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. She will lie in state for one hour at Delta Baptist Church from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.
