D. Franklin Painter, Jr., age 80, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away on December 10, 2023. Born on June 26, 1943, to the late Dilmos Franklin Painter, Sr., and Vola Cobb Painter.
Franklin was a steadfast member of Liberty Baptist Church in Painter, Alabama, where he devoted a lifetime to his faith. His presence and contributions to the church were a testament to his deep-rooted spirituality and the values he held dear.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary E. Painter; daughter, Christi P. (Ben) Smallwood; son, David F. (Tammy) Painter; and grandsons, Dawson F. (Bonnie) Painter and Justin L. Painter.
A farewell party to celebrate Franklin’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Ken Patterson, Jr., will officiate the ceremony. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, starting at 12:30, providing an opportunity for those who knew Franklin to offer their condolences and support. The final resting place for Franklin will be at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Painter, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be sent to Liberty Baptist Church, a gesture honoring Franklin’s commitment to his faith and community.
In a poignant letter left for his family, Franklin expressed his wishes for his “Farwell Party on Earth” including sentiments with characteristic humor, writing, “Sorry you are missing the fun.” His light-hearted spirit and appreciation for life will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
