Cynthia Erin Bourne Coulston Simmons, 38, left this earthly life and entered her eternal reward with her Savior, Jesus on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN after complications from her second liver transplant. Cynthia was born to Robert & Joy Coulston of Covington, TN on October 5, 1982. She grew up in Covington, as a member of First Baptist Church and graduated from Covington High School in 2001. She went on to attend Union University in Jackson, TN, where she met her husband Josh, and graduated with a BA in Family Studies. She worked as a social worker, nanny, and homemaker over the last 16 years. Cynthia has been a devoted follower of Jesus Christ since her teenage years. She has discipled numerous friends to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ. She was a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Bells, TN, where she served for nearly 13 years as a children’s teacher and for the past 7 years as a dedicated pastor’s wife. Her most treasured role in life was as Mommy to her precious Eli and wife to her “Sweet Josh”. Her love for God flowed in every conversation. Her faith in God was strong and has delivered her through many storms in life. Cynthia found joy in her flowers and working in her garden, where she spent countless hours caring for her small portion of God’s creation. She saw God’s love everywhere: in heart-shaped clouds, in heart-shaped rocks she’d find along her walks, the uniqueness of the sea shells on each beach trip, and especially in the beauty of a colorful sunset on the canvas of the evening sky. She was artistic and could take anything and make it beautiful. She enjoyed taking photos as they helped her remember every moment of life and to celebrate God’s goodness to her. Her contagious laugh, infectious spirit, and beautiful smile are trademarks by which she is well known, and will always be remembered. She is survived by her husband of almost 16 years, Josh and one son, Eli, age 5 of Alamo, TN. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Joy Coulston of Covington, TN, sisters Lisa (Zac) Odom of Alexandria, VA, Katherine (Jay) Black of Covington, her mother-in-law Cindy Simmons of Savannah, TN, her nieces and nephews, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and more friends than can be counted. She is preceded in death by grandparents, RL and Janet Coulston, and Lewis and Mildred Bourne, as well as her father-in-law John Simmons, Jr. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Monday, June 7, 2021 at 5 PM at the First Baptist Church in Covington, TN, with Rev. Larry Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, TN. There will be two visitations held, June 6, 2021, 4 PM – 8 PM in Cross Roads Baptist Church, 1808 Love Rd., Bells, TN and June 7, 2021, 3 PM – 5 PM at First Baptist Church, Covington, 2105 Hwy 59 South, Covington, TN.
