Curtis Ray Nix Curtis Ray Nix, 74 of Haleyville, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Curtis was born on March 25, 1948 in Jasper to Troy Curtis and Millie Decie Blackwell Nix. Prior to his retirement, Curtis worked for many years in the cabinet shop at Southern Homes in Addison. He loved being outside, whether he was working, mowing the grass or just enjoying the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father and paw paw.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2-3pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be at 3pm. Burial will be in New Flatwoods Cemetery at Liberty Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Nauvoo, Alabama. Officiating will be Brother Jerry Key and Brother Stan Galloway.

The family will gather following the service at Pebble Community Center located at 100 County Road 3423, Haleyville, Alabama 35565 for a time of food and fellowship. The building will be unlocked beginning at 1pm for convenience in dropping off food.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Lovinnia Jane Nix; daughters, Deanna Maria (Larry) Whisenhunt, and Candace Diona (Stan) Kimbrell; son, Jeremy Keith (Monica) Vines; 3 grandchildren, Whitney Lee (Zach) McNutt, Khloe McKell Kimbrell, and Kashlyn Rae Whisenhunt; great grandchild, Zander Lee McNutt; and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Curtis Nix; mother, Millie Decie Blackwell Nix; brother, James William Nix; sisters, Dolly “Dot” Mae Sides, Violet “Vernie” Lovenia Barnes, and Ester Norene Pair.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joy and Kenny Aaron, Kim Oswalt, Leigh and Gary Sutliff, Tara Carroll, and to the host of family and friends that have came by to fellowship.
