Curtis Edward Colburn, 62, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his home in the Bigbee Community. He was born on September 8, 1960, in Okolona to John Edward and Mable Morton Colburn. Growing up in Okolona, he later moved with his family to Amory, and he was self-employed as a painter and carpenter all his working life before becoming disabled. Curtis could be characterized as an old soul and loved to sit on his front porch visiting with his friends. He was straight forward but he also had a great sense of humor and loved to aggravate his sisters. He liked riding his Harley-Davidson, but above all, his grandchildren gave him the greatest joy and they loved their pawpaw. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Ebert (Dennis Gasper) of Smithville; two sisters, Debra Coleman (Alan) and Donna Sanderson (Rick) both of Amory; his grandchildren, Tristen Gasper and Adalyn Ebert; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and other family.
Preceding him in death are his parents; one brother, Steve Colburn; and grandparents, John and Annie Colburn and Curtis and Lillie Mae Morton.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Gasper, David Conwill, David Randolph, Alan Coleman, Rick Sanderson, and Wade Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Holley, Roy Lee Edwards, and Brian Sullivan.
Visitation will be on Thursday from noon until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
