Curtis A. Franks – Obituary

Curtis A. Franks, 86, of Florence, passed away June 10, 2015 after an extended illness. He was an active member of North Wood United Methodist Church for over forty years and during this time he was an active member of every church committee. Curtis was also a member of the Good Shepherd Sunday School class where he taught Sunday school on a rotation with other teachers. He also was active in the Church Goodwill Club for over twenty years where he served as president for three terms and treasurer for five or more years. He was dedicated to his church. Curtis enlisted in the Air Force in 1946 for three years and was recalled for duty in 1951 and he remained on active duty until 1970; he retired with over twenty years of service. He later went to work for T.V.A. as an Associate Engineer for seventeen years.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 2 – 3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Scott Coats and John David Crow officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alice Franks; brothers, Cecil and Davis Franks; sisters, Ellie Kaemark, Della Couch, Gladys Keebler, and Evie Keebler.

He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Doris Franks; children, Marsha Denise Franks; Curtis Scott Franks and wife Sally Jackson Franks; grandchildren, John Scott Franks and wife Ashley Morgan Franks, Curtis Daniel Franks and wife, Lydia Rubrecht Franks; great-grandchildren, Julian Franks, Hinda Franks, Yisroel Franks, Perl Franks, and Sura Zlota Franks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any cancer fund or memorials to North Wood United Methodist Church.
