Mr. Coy Austin Montgomery, 74, a native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, passed away Aug. 3, 2014, at his residence after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was a member of North Wood United Methodist Church, a cattleman and farmer, worked for the Tennessee Gas Pipeline for 30 years, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, from 1-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Scott Coats, the Rev. Wayne Williams, and the Rev. Steve Reding. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Montgomery, and brothers, Freddie and Robert Montgomery.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Shelton Montgomery, of Florence; daughter, Mary Montgomery-Smith and husband, Rick, of Florence; sisters, Nina Lovelace and Ann Rickard and husband, Charles; grandchild, Austin Smith; and sisters-in-law, Doris Montgomery Faires and Betty Montgomery, all of Florence.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Dowd, Greg May, Joey May, Jerry Shaw, James Tassin, and Sam Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Julia Dowd, Joe Flippen, Dexter Graves, Georgia Lambright, Martin Murray, Azalia Shaw, Sam Waller, Donnie Weatherford, Pat Weatherford, Susan Williams, Johnye Wright, and Jackye Zenick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Wood United Methodist Church.
