WILLIAMSON CO, TN – On Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to an unresponsive bicyclist on the Natchez Trace Parkway near mile marker 427. Witnesses stated the 66 year-old cyclist collapsed off his bicycle shortly after beginning a ride of the entire Parkway. Two construction workers, who were working on a nearby paving project, observed this collapse and began CPR.
Cleston Hill and Johnny Harris performed CPR for approximately five minutes until Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Livengood arrived to assist with an AED. Within a few minutes, Williamson County EMS arrived and began Advanced Life Support. The victim was transported to Williamson County Medical Center and later to Vanderbilt Medical Center. He is currently in ICU in serious condition.
The Natchez Trace Parkway would like to thank Hill and Harris for their quick thinking and actions, Corporal Livengood for providing AED assistance, and Williamson County EMS for their quick response. The Parkway also thanks Sheriff Long and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office for their continued support and assistance to Parkway Rangers.
