Chief Conrad Thorpe, 72, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Garry Lovette will officiate.
Conrad was a twenty-six-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War and earning the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Later in life, he worked as a truck driver for Estes Trucking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Velma Thorpe; and his late wife, Anita Thorpe.
Conrad is survived by his wife, Virginia Thorpe; son, Mike Mowett (Lorah); stepchildren, Amanda James, Brandi Willingham, Heather Roach, Chasity Reed, and Angel Reed; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friend, Matt Hanback.
