Funeral Services for Mrs. Connie Smith McDonald, age 62 of Lineville, will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Barfield Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. John Howell and Rev. Mark Sprayberry officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashland City Cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the Clay County Hospital. She was born in Ashland and had lived in Clay County all of her life. She attended Barfield School until 9th grade, and graduated from Lineville High School. She then attended Ayers College and obtained her nursing degree. Mrs. McDonald worked around 30 years in the healthcare field, working primarily at Clay County Hospital and the Clay County Nursing Home, but also briefly worked at several locations in Calhoun County as well. In her youth, she enjoyed sewing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, and going to the beach. As she grew older, Mrs. McDonald enjoyed spending time on the lake, going on a sunset boat ride, and cooking for and spending time with her family. She was the kindest and sweetest woman, had a good sense of humor, and was protective of her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by her husband of 44 years, John F. McDonald of Lineville; two sons: Aaron Wesley McDonald of Lineville and Corey Russell McDonald (Candy) of Wedowee; three great-grandchildren: Elijah, Braylon, and Dallon; two brothers: Jeffery Smith (Beverly) of Dadeville and John T. Smith (Lee) of Lineville, plus other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John Russell Smith and Waynette Graben Smith.
Braylon and Dallon McDonald will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. She will lie in state for one hour at Barfield Baptist Church on Sunday, April 6, 2024 prior to services.
