Coley Wayne Hadaway, Sr., 83, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at his home. Wayne was born on January 14, 1940 to Earnest and Irene Hadaway. He was a long-time employee of True Temper Sports and he honorably served in the Mississippi National Guard. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially at Grenada Lake, and playing golf when he was able. He was a self-proclaimed cooking expert whether it was frying fish or smoking meat and would he often share with his friends and neighbors. He was devoted to his wife of nearly 32 years, Bonita with whom he shared many fishing and camping trips or trips to the Great Smoky Mountains for a box of apples. Wayne had a strong determination to stay active and that he did. He would stay up to all hours of the night in his shop rigging his rods and reels, making lead weights, or working with wood to make some new-fangled contraption he thought of. He loved to make a garden and could grow some outstanding mustard and turnip greens.
A private service will be held later.
In addition to his wife, Bonita Thompson Hadaway, he is survived by one son, Coley Wayne Hadaway, Jr. (Gina) of Amory; two daughters, Virginia Kilburn (Robbie) of Bartahatchie and Charline Hadaway of Amory; step daughters, Anita Black Branham (Charley) and Karen Black Farrar (Andy); grandchildren, Allen Kilburn (Oci), Cory Kilburn, and Devin Taylor; step grandchildren, Evan Branham (Kayla) and Bethany Branham; great grandchilde, Lawson Kilburn; step great grandchildren, McKinley Branham, Danny Black, and Zane Collier; step great great grandchildren, Cotton and Harley; brother-in-law, Tommy Howard; and good friend, Doug Blaylock (Wanda).
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Doyle and Charles Hadaway.
