COLBERT COUNTY-Colbert County has events for the upcoming holidays to,please anyone who wants to celebrate the season.  Check out just a few of the fun events to help you celebrate the season:

Now – January 14th – Ice-Skating in Muscle Shoals, 2010 Avalon Avenue, Muscle Shoals. Dash on over to Muscle Shoals this season and revel in the winter wonderland at the Public Ice-Skating Rink! Join in for frosty fun on Thursdays (3-8 PM), Fridays (3-8 PM), Saturdays (12-8 PM), and Sundays (12-8 PM), now through January 14th. The rink will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. November 14 – December 23, 2023 – Winter Art Market, Get ready for the 2023 Winter Art Market! Shop for the holidays and yourself, from dozens of artists and artisans. TVAA members will get first-chance shopping on November 11. Hours: Tuesday-Friday 9 am-5 pm, Saturday 10 am-5 pm. Museum admission: $5 for adults, $3 for students, free for TVAA members. December 1, 2023 – Holiday Decorating with Nature,1569 Cook Lane, Tuscumbia. A workshop on

Holiday Decorating with Nature will be presented by the Regional Offices of Alabama Cooperative Extension System (Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale Counties) at historic Belle Mont Mansion on December 1, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Jayne Leutzow, Regional Extension Agent for Home, Grounds, and Gardens will demonstrate techniques for creating festive swags, garlands, wreaths, centerpieces, and the apple & pineapple cones that are used in decorations at historic Williamsburg. Participants will be able to create examples of their choice of decoration to take home with them.   You are invited to bring additional greenery or decorative objects to personalize your

wreath or arrangement. Cost is $25.00, including materials and refreshments. Space is limited and prepaid registration is required. Proceeds benefit Belle Mont’s preservation and operations. Call 256-381-5052 or email

December 2, 2023 – NWSCC Breakfast with Santa, Northwest Shoals Community College, 800 George Wallace Blvd, Muscle Shoals. The Northwest-Shoals Community College is Ho-Ho-Ho-happy to announce our Breakfast With Santa event, taking place on our Muscle Shoals Campus on Saturday, December 2. Join us for breakfast, crafts, Christmas carols, and Santa and some of his special friends. Tickets are $14 per person. Everyone (adults and children) 2 and older must have a ticket for entry. December 2, 2023 – Listening Room Event feat. Tyler Tisdale & Katie Barnett, Alabama Music Hall of Fame, 617 Highway 72 W, Tuscumbia. December 7, 2023 – Sheffield Comprehensive Plan Public Workshop, Sheffield Municipal Building, 647 N Nashville Ave, Sheffield. The City of Sheffield and the North Alabama Council of Local Governments are conducting a public workshop to help develop a new Comprehensive Master Plan for to guide the City’s future development. The workshop is open to all citizens and interested members of the public. Please plan to attend to share your vision for what Sheffield should become and how we can make it happen. December 7, 2023 – Winter Wonderland Student Maker Market, Muscle Shoals High School Library, Muscle Shoals. Come support our talented students and get some of your Christmas shopping out of the way from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. Explore the rich history of Sheffield this holiday season on an enlightening two-hour trolley tour guided by historian Jimmy Austin. December 15-16, 2023 – The Polar Express at the Ritz, The Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd Street, Sheffield. The Ritz Theatre is hosting two evenings of magic, all themed around the holiday classic The Polar Express!

Starting at 6 pm, you’ll get to ride a trolley with Santa, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, make an ornament, and have festive family fun! Then at 7 pm, we’ll watch the movie on our big screen in the historic Ritz Theatre, which will be decked out for the season! December 21, 2023 – The Nutcracker, The Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd Street, Sheffield. Choreographer Peter Wright first staged The Nutcracker, based on the iconic 1892 original by Lev Ivanov and Marius Petipa, in 1984 with the Royal Ballet. It has since become every bit as much a holiday staple as eggnog, cookies, and tinsel, enchanting audiences year after year for nearly four decades—and you would be hard-pressed to find a more dazzling production than this pristine 2018 recording by the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden.
