Funeral Services for Mrs. Clydee Allen, age 88 of Anniston, will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Lineville Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. David Franklin and Dr. Roland Brown officiating. Burial will be private for family only following the services.
Mrs. Allen passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024 at RMC in Anniston. She was born and raised in Anniston and was a 1954 graduate of Anniston High School. Following high school, she attended nursing school at Carraway Methodist Hospital in Birmingham and worked her way thru school until she became a Registered nurse. She began her career at RMC in Anniston and also worked at Stringfellow Hospital for several years. Mrs. Allen enjoyed every aspect of being a nurse, which led her to teach at the Jacksonville Health and Science career tech center. She also worked at the Anniston Health Department and finished her nursing career working at the Clay County Hospital. Mrs. Allen enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and was affectionately as the casserole queen. She was very active in her church and their activities, as well as sharing her time at the Soup Bowl in Anniston. She was a member of Lineville Baptist Church and as of recent, Golden Springs Baptist Church in Anniston. Mrs. Allen taught Sunday School and helped during Vacation Bible School, taught children how to read as well as reading to children, and was hands on with the Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministries at her church. Mrs. Allen’s passion was being a shining light to Jesus for others. She was a faithful servant of Christ and reared her children to follow God’s word. Mrs. Allen was a mother to all, kind to those who needed it, nurturing and loving. She was described as an intelligent listener and communicator, meek and quiet, and very strong willed. Mrs. Clydee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Mrs. Allen is survived by two children: Mark Allen (Phyllis) of Anniston and Monica Ragsdale (Jeff) of Munford; four grandchildren: Justin Allen (Amy), Phylicia Hollingsworth (Ben), Kayla Wade (Jared), and Laura Hurst; five great-grandchildren: Ava, Harper, Adaline, Luke, and Colton; one sister, Mary Evelyn Odom of Barfield, plus other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse and Eva Shaddix; her husband, Roy D. Allen; and one brother, Jesse H. Shaddix.
Active Pallbearers will be Jared Wade, Ryan Pritchett, Jeff Ragsdale, Junior McNeal, Justin Allen, and Ben Hollingsworth.
Her visitation will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Lineville Baptist Church from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at Golden Springs Baptist Church: 3 Robertson Road, Anniston, AL 36207. The family would also like express gratitude to Phyllis Allen, Jeff Ragsdale, Dr. Roland Brown, and Golden Springs Baptist Church for helping tend to the family of Mrs. Clydee during the difficult time.
