Cleve V. Wilson, Jr., 88, Phil Campbell, passed on to his eternal home on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.

He was born March 30, 1924 in Phil Campbell and spent his entire life there. He was the son of Cleve Wilson, Sr., and Liddie (Flippo) Wilson. He was one of eight children. He is preceded in death by his parents, by his sisters, Grace Burnell, Polly McRight; and brothers, Paschal, Jimmy, Gene, and Marvin Wilson.

He was married to Elsie (Hines) Wilson in 1943. After almost 49 years of marriage, she preceded him in death in 1992.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Phil Campbell. He was a long time employee of U.S. Reduction. He also had his truck which he enjoyed using to help people. He has probably hauled either gravel, sand, or top soil to just about everyone in Franklin County.

The visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Friday, September 14, 2012 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The celebration of his life service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel. Speaking at the service will be Bro. Tim Haney, Leon Wilson and other family members. Burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia.

He is survived by one daughter, Judy (Wilson) Stanford and her husband, Leon; two grandsons, Scotty Stanford (wife, Beth), Patrick Stanford (wife, Abby); great-grandchildren, Tiffany Stanford, Jonathan Stanford, Meredith Stanford; brother, Billy Wilson (wife, Joan); sister-in-law, Betty Wilson; and a host of nieces & nephews.

The pallbearers will be Scotty Stanford, Patrick Stanford, Bob Burnell, Jerry Taylor, Phillip Wilson, and Lonnie Stancil.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
