Claytie Cooper Rosborough Cook, age 93 of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Vanderbilt-Harton Medical Center in Tullahoma. She was born in Bedford County on September 11, 1929, to the late Joe and Kathleen (Cooper) Rosborough. A devout Christian lady, she was a devoted member of Lynchburg First United Methodist Church which she joined in 1973. With a servant’s heart, Claytie served the Moore County community as a Registered Nurse at the Moore County Health Department for over twenty-five years. She retired in 1992 and was honored with a “Claytie Cook Day” in celebration of her years of service. Again in 2021, her service to the community was acknowledged as she received the Key to the City of Lynchburg. Claytie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and doing hand work such as embroidery and cross-stitch, as well as bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren and grandpuppies. She was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying basketball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allison Malloy Cook; sisters, Eleanor (Leabern) Petty, and Eugenia Cook; and niece, Kathy Rohling. Claytie is survived by her loving children, Joanna (Roger) Low of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Allison Gilliam of Belvidere; grandchildren, Ben Low, Jacob Low (Margaret Lowry), and Hogan Gilliam; cousin, Margaret Rosborough; niece, Carol (Thomas) White; great niece and nephews, Abby Friesen, Shelby Adams, Brayden Vernon, Justice Vernon, Aaron Raisian, Isabella Raisian, Mark Raisian, Laurel Raisian, and Kory Raisian. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in the Chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Layne officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Bank Cemetery in the Flat Creek Community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Lynchburg First United Methodist Church.
