Clayborn Haskell Manuel, 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at his home in Iuka. Clay was born on February 19, 1938, in Memphis, TN, to Roy Clayborn and L. Mae Livingston Manuel. He served his country in the Army as an M.P. After the Army, he started with the Memphis Police Department as Park Police. He then worked his way up through Traffic, General Investigations, and Undercover. Clay was Chief of the Narcotics Division for a short period of time. He also worked in the Organized Crime Unit, which he loved. He retired as Captain Manuel. Among Clay’s hobbies was playing poker with friends and fishing, going deep sea fishing often. Clay was preceded in death by his wife, Bobby O’dell Manuel; his stepson, Steve Robinson; and his parents. He is survived by his stepchildren, Mike Robinson, Pam Morris (Carl), and Lee Ann Lambert (Kevin) all of Iuka, MS, and Tammy Tinney (Billy) of Houston, TX; his brothers, George, Billy, and John Manuel of Idabel, OK, Jerry Manuel of New Town, ND, and Danny Manuel of Stigler, OK; and many other family members and friends. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements.
