Clarence "Buddy" Harris, Jr.Clarence “Buddy” Oral Harris, Jr. 76, of New Hope, passed away Tuesday.

Buddy met the love of his life, Nancy, in 1962. She went on to introduce him to the word of God and he was baptized into Christ, August 1st, 1963 at New Hope Church of Christ. He was a skilled electrician and spent most of his working days in different commercial plants. Buddy was a traveler. He spent a lot of his early days working all over the southeast, and he was widely known for his love of playing Tonk for pennies. With his wife and family, Buddy opened a western store in New Hope, Buddy’s Western Wear, where his love of western apparel was able to shine through. He enjoyed going to the Smokey Mountains with family, wood working, raising chickens and gardening at his home. Buddy was a longtime member of Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Visa Lee Hutto Harris, Father, Clarence Oral Harris, Sr. (Virginia), Brother, Larry Harris, and Father-in-Law, Hubbard Frank Bridges.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 56 years Nancy Bridges Harris. Three children; Tommy (Rhonda) Harris, Joel (Becky) Harris, and Misty (Rodney) Quick. Six grandchildren; Tren (Annie) Harris, Katelyn (Joshua) McCutcheon, Justin (Kirstie) Harris, Ashleigh (Jacob) Whitehead, Monica (Joey) Whitehead, Joshua Quick, Honorary Grandson Thomas Sutton and Honorary Granddaughters Shelby Sutton and Abigail Smith. The light of Buddy’s life were his seven great grandchildren. One girl, Olivia, and six boys: Landon, Preston, Riggs, Forrest, Eli and Joshua JR. Buddy is also survived by his siblings: Carolyn (Charles) Sutphin, Shirley (Larry) Meeks, Roy (Connie) Harris, Eugene (Lisa) Harris, Howard (Kim) Harris, and Virginia (Darryl) Day, Mother- in- Law, Dorothy Sutton Bridges, Brother-in-Law, Ronald (Kay) Bridges, and Donald (Babs) Bridges, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The Harris Family would like to extend a special offering of thanks to Dr. Alan Baggett, Leslie Griffie and Anna Kathryn McDowell, with Huntsville Hospital Hospice Group.

Pallbearers are Tren Harris, Justin Harris, Joshua Quick, Joey Whitehead, Joshua McCutcheon, Jacob Whitehead, Landon Quick with Honorary Pallbearer Rodney Quick.

A Graveside service will be held at Walker Cemetery, Thursday at 2:00 pm with Bro. Harold Kelly and Bro. Paddy Flanagan officiating.
