Clara L. Newton, age 91, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg. She was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired cafeteria manager, and a member of Fall River United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Thomas and Bertha Lee Glass Powell; her husband, Floyd Newton; three sisters, Velma Lee Graves, Lottie Imogene Newton, and Inez McKinstry; and three brothers, Delton Powell, Chester Powell, and J. C. Powell.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2015, with Chris Gowen officiating. Interment will follow at Center Point Baptist Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN. Family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
