Clara Joyce Stubblefield Shelton, 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Sunshine Healthcare in Pontotoc, MS. A devout Christian, Joyce was a beloved member of West Heights Baptist Church. A 1955 graduate of Thaxton High School, she devoted her life to homemaking. Joyce was active in the ladies’ auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her love and devotion to her family were unmatched, and she treasured creating memories with them.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Champion Morris, and her grandchildren, Chad Russell (Brandy), Christy Jamison (Wesley), Brandi Roberts (Jonathan), and Brandon Cox (Jessica). She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Baylee, Bella, Emery, and Tyler Russell (Amanda), Logan Burger, Austin Gasaway, Bella Jamison, Alexandria Carroll (Preston), Elise Le Maire, Madi Le Maire, and Hannah Cox, as well as her great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Ella Beth, and Piper Russell, and Presley Chism. Joyce is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her daughter, Cynthia Rena Stewart, her parents, Hessa and Lillian Stubblefield, her first husband and father of her children, Terrell D. Champion, her second husband Leroy Massey, her brothers, Frank, Paul, Gerald, and J.W. Stubblefield, and her sister, Cassie White.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2PM on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with Bro. Don Taggart and Bro. Johnny Cook officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31st from 5-8PM and on Friday, November 1st from 1PM until service time. Interment will follow at Ecru Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is overseeing the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Russell, Logan Burger, Austin Gasaway, A.J. Murphy, Thomas Underwood, and Ronnie White, Jr.
