Funeral Services for Miss Clara Jane Williams, age 77 of Ashland will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Bruce Willis officiating. Interment will be at Clay County Memory Gardens, where she will rest next to her beloved mother and father.
Miss Clara Jane Williams passed away on January 22, 2024. Born in Ashland, Alabama on September 19, 1946, the daughter of Almon Oscar Williams and Verna Kimbrough Williams, she passed while temporarily residing in Homewood, Alabama, but she always considered Ashland to be home.
After graduating from Clay County High School in 1964, Clara Jane received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Jacksonville State University and went on to receive her Master of Science in Education, also from Jacksonville State University.
Until her retirement in August 2005, Clara Jane was a well-known teacher for many years in Ashland, where she touched the lives of hundreds of students over the years. She loved to travel, was an avid reader, and a devoted Auburn Tigers fan, and she loved to attend the annual Alabama Shakespeare Festival. She was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Ashland, Alabama before she temporarily moved to Homewood, Alabama where she resided at Mount Royal Towers. Now, she is returning to her home in Ashland
She is survived by many cousins, spread across the country.
Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be floral or donations made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Journey Hospice in Birmingham, Alabama.
