Clara Inez Wakefield Stults

Clara Inez Stults Clara Inez Wakefield Stults age 87 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 28, 2020 at her residence with her son Ricky and daughter Ronda Alesia by her side.

Clara was born to Simeon and Catherine Wakefield on July 5, 1933. Clara was a birthday present to her brother Cecil who was born 6 years earlier on the same date.

Clara became a member of Botush Freewill Baptist Church in Feb of 1970, over 50 years ago. She was faithful, offering a daily example of how to live and follow Christ. She loved her Church family dearly.

Clara and her 12 siblings were Sacred Harp singers. This type of singing is often referred to as “Old Book” or “FaSoLa” singing. She loved going to the singings and enjoying this time with her family and friends.

Clara worked at the Textile Mill during the 60’s and early 70’s. In 1965 Clara and her husband Ralph Stults opened their 1st gas station and in 1977 they opened Stults Grocery. In addition to managing the Stults Grocery, Clara and her husband also owned and managed several rental properties and a logging business. Her motivation was fueled by her never ending faith which gave her the positive and approachable attitude necessary to deal with the public.

Clara was an award winning quilter. She made dozens of quilts and entered them into local quilt shows where she won several awards. Chances are if you shopped at Stults Grocery you saw Clara sewing on a quilt top, each piece carefully placed and stitched with love. One of her greatest joys in life was to see the happiness in the eyes of her children and grandchildren when she handed them their own home made quilt each year for Christmas.

Clara was a loving mother to her children, Ricky Stults and his wife, Charlotte, Ronda Alesia Ingle and her husband Kenneth, and Jennifer Cantrel; she was grandmother to 5 grandsons: Brian Stults and his wife Angela, Patrick Stults, Joseph Ingle and wife Stephanie, Alex Ingle and his wife Crystal and Mason Cantrell. She was Great Grandmother to Elijah Stults, Austin, Emily, Khloe and Annalee Claire Ingle, Emma and Chloe Ingle. She was Great Great Grandmother to Emberlyn and Remington Kelley.

Clara is survived by her siblings Larry Wakefield, Julie Poston, Fay Donaldson, and Betty Baccus and a host of nieces and nephews.

Clara is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Ralph Stults; her children, Gary, Danny and Regina Stults; Parents, Simeon and Catherine Wakefield; Siblings; Cecil, Clifford, Wilford, Gene, Wayne and Wendell Wakefield, Helen Langston and Nadine Willis.

Due to the Covid19 pandemic a private service was held September 30. Brother Greg Cook and Brother Joseph Boyles held the service. The family would like to thank Kindred Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care and support.
