Our dear mother and mamaw, Clara Gladys Poland, age 97, formally from Scottsboro, AL, passed away October 18, 2023. She was born October 12, 1926 to the late Mr. & Mrs. John F. Parks in Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev James F. Poland, daughter, Alice Webb, son, Glen Poland and grandson, Timothy Webb.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Poland (Jane) of Chattanooga, TN and Jack Poland (Dale) of Griffin, GA. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Keith Webb (Lynette) of Scottsboro, AL, Randy Poland of Chattanooga, TN, Danny Poland (Rose) of Nashville, TN, Kimberly Asbell (John) of LaGrange, GA, Brad Poland (Amy) of Forsyth, GA and Samantha Zinnel of Huntsville, AL. She also leaves behind a granddaughter-in-law, Donna Webb, Birmingham, AL. She was blessed with fifteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Quilting was her favorite hobby for many years. She also loved to gather her family and cook their favorite foods. Fried okra and chocolate pie was always requested.
Graveside Funeral Services will be at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Scottsboro, Alabama on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a special donation to your church or your favorite charity.
