Claire Savage Stanfill, 86, retired Maury County Teacher, died Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living.
Funeral services will the conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes and Nichol Funeral Home with John Vaughan and Andrew Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born September 20, 1932 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Allison Savage and the late Margaret Morton Beasley Savage. On June 23, 1956, she married William Drake “Billy” Stanfill, Sr. who preceded her in death March 27, 2019. Mrs. Stanfill was a retired 2nd grade teacher for twenty-five years at Riverside Elementary School and a member of the Maury County Retired Teachers Association. She graduated from Hampshire High School and went on to attend the University of Tennessee and received her Associate of Arts degree at Columbia State Community College, her Bachelors of Science Degree at Middle Tennessee State University, and her Masters of Science degree in Education from the Tennessee State University. She was a former board member of Lister Hill Credit Union, member of the Daughters of American Revolution, and the American Association of University Women. She was a charter member of Graymere Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughter, Delisa Stanfill (Craig) Showers; son William Drake (Rachel Allen) Stanfill, Jr.; grandchildren, Garrett Lee (Katherine) Showers, Blake Henry Showers, Brock Savage Showers, Sara Grayson Stanfill, and William Drake Stanfill III.
Pallbearers will be Dana Clark, Brent Staggs, Kevin Staggs, Ben Rose, Jonathan Rose, and Mike Malone. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Maury County Retired Teachers Association.
