Christine (Tina) Miller Kellett, 78, went to meet her Heavenly Father surrounded by her family, October 8, 2024, after a long battle with dementia. She had a joyous spirit, love of family and a deep commitment to community service.
Tina was born on December 25, 1946. She was the oldest of three children born to Thomas and Helen Lentz and was adopted after her mother’s passing in 1959 by her aunt and uncle Bill and Doris Miller.
After graduating from Gadsden High School ‘64, Tina attended Auburn University and earned a degree in Education ‘67. She then received her Masters in Counseling from Alabama A&M. She spent her career helping numerous students find their way to college aspirations by obtaining financial aid for their education and later as a counselor at Decatur High School.
Her family was of the utmost importance to her, and we were so blessed to have the best Mother/Mimi who was so committed to us all. She was loving, selfless, giving and so involved in our lives and there for us in every way. Attending any and all activities, never missing anything we were involved in, be it child or grandchild. She was a member of First Bible Church of Decatur and loved her Lord. She was a loving and kind friend and loved by many. Her service to the community and her heart of gold was cherished and appreciated by all.
The community is welcome to the celebration of life, held at First Bible Church in Decatur, AL on Friday, November 22, at 2pm, followed by a reception and visitation with the family. Because she touched countless lives with her volunteer work, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Neighborhood Christian Center in Decatur, AL, as she was very involved in their prison ministry https://www.decaturncc.org/ or the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration due to her specific diagnosis http://www.theaftd.org/.
Besides her parents and adopted parents, Tina was predeceased by her brother, Peter Miller of Nashville, TN. She is survived by her son, Josh Kellett and his wife Angie of San Antonio, TX, and her daughters Tassie Cowan of Ringgold, GA and Christiana Culligan of Wake Forest, NC as well as her brother Tom Miller of Chatsworth, GA and family. Nine grandchildren, extended family members, and many friends mourn her loss.
