Christine Spraggins Richardson of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away Friday at the age of 89. She was born to Thomas and Bertie Spraggins of Alexander City, Alabama in 1926. She resided in Alexander City until 1964, when the family moved to Huntsville.
Christine graduated from Benjamin Russell High School and Auburn University; she taught school for many years. She also worked for Parisians Department Store for 10 years. She was an active member of Weatherly Heights Baptist Church for over fifty years where she was very involved in the music program and the Children’s Home group.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richardson, also of Huntsville, and her brother Thomas Spraggins of Las Vegas.
She is survived by her children, Kay Selah (Mike), Jeanie Plaxco (Cliff), Mary Ann Edgar (Tom), and Charlie Richardson (Melissa); grandchildren, Amanda Miller (Colin), Richard Selah, Valerie Backmann (Ryan), Susanna Plaxco, Johnny Plaxco, Clint Richardson, and Daniel Richardson; and great-granddaughter Mae Backmann.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2pm Monday at Weatherly Heights Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow 2pm at the church with the Dr. David Freeman officiating. Private family burial will be in Alexander City Cemetery.
