Christine Eckles, age 87, of Tuscumbia, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012. Visitation will be at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, Tuesday 11 a.m. to noon. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Wayne Gean officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
She is survived by her children Don Hairrell, Mike Hairrell, Carolyn Hairrell, Frederick Eugene Eckles and Stephanie Eckles; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and her sisters, Polly Pounders and Alma Balentine. She loved her family and spent hours on the phone everyday keeping in touch with all of them.
Pallbearers are Frederick Eugene Eckles Jr., Ryan Shane King, Stephon Eckles, Bradley Eckles, Wayne Nix and Rocky Dubois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Skin Cancer Foundation.
