Christine “Chris” Treadway Steele, 78, of Iuka, MS, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Tishomingo Community Living Center after an extended illness. She was born on May 19, 1946, in Conway, SC. She was a member of Poplar Springs Freewill Baptist Church where she was a youth teacher for many years. She was an award winning quilter and member of the local Quilting Guild. Chris enjoyed painting, crafting, and growing beautiful flowers in her garden. Among many other activities, she enjoyed most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Flint Steele; two daughters, Ann Marlar (Coney) and Bea Ortiz (Billy Patrick), all of Iuka, MS; two granddaughters, Ashley Wren (Tim) of Rienzi, MS, and Brittany Terry (Jonathan) of Tupelo, MS; two great-grandchildren, Raylee and Parker Wren of Rienzi, MS; two brothers, Boyd Treadway of Aiken, SC, and Gene Treadway (Neva) of Iuka, MS; two sisters, Margarete Whatley of Aiken, SC, and Geneva Welborn (Lloyd) of Bonneau, SC; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Artemus and Louise Treatway of Goose Creek, SC. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Poplar Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., at Poplar Springs Freewill Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Nathaniel Bullard. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dewey Wade Marlar, Robert Farr, Jonathan Terry, Tim Wren, Sammy Steele, and Matthew McNinch.
