Major Chris T. Matsos, Ed. D, 64, of Nashville, passed away Wednesday. Major Matsos served in Air Defense/Missile Command. He belonged to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Nashville, TN, where he served on the Parish Counsil and was also a member of the Order of AHEPA. A University of Alabama Alumnus, he earned a PhD in Higher Education Administration, and was a member of the ATO Fraternity and Kappa Delta Pi. Major Matsos formerly served as a professor at UT Martin and as Center Director at Keller Graduate School of Management in Atlanta, Georgia. Most recently he served as Professor of Ethics and Philosophy at Phoenix University in Nashville.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Matsos; brothers, Ted Matsos and Tim Matsos; sister, Helen Matsos; sister-in-law, Lee Ann Matsos; and nieces, Elizabeth Matsos Stechmann, Annette Matsos Perry and Maria Matsos; and grand-nephew and Godson, James Stechmann.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Huntsville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Father Gregory Hohnholt of Nashville and Father Kevin Millsaps of Huntsville officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
