Funeral service for Charlie Wayne Prater, 80, will be Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rex Riddle and Bro. Wayne Bumgart officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Alexander Welborn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Prater died on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1943, in Morgan County, to Leonard Prater and Katie Pauline Sanford Prater.
He was a retired pipefitter, prior to his retirement. He was a member of Pinhook Church, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed Alabama Football, was a member of Lawrence County Sports Hall Of Fame and founding member of Speake High School Sports Museum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son- Timothy Wayne Prater, a daughter- Anita Lacy and a sister- Ruby Powell.

Pallbearers will be Drew Prater, Cody Bowers, Jacob White, Coynis Smith, Paul Prater and Sandy Sanford.
